Matthew Coulton

"Up-and-coming actor" - The Stage, May 2015

Since graduating from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2014, Matthew's credits include Goosebumps Alive (The Vaults), The Magic Flute (Complicité/ENO), Theatre by the Lake, Holby City (BBC), and a variety of voice-overs for BBC Radio. He can also be seen in several short films, including the lead in award winning 'Corpse Remover' (2016).

His upcoming work includes returning to the ENO for Rory Kinnear's The Winter's Tale, with movement by Imogen Knight, and a lead role in the premiére of award-winning play, The Mutant Man this April, with director Heather Fairbairn. He is also movement directing an adaptation of Dante's Divine Comedy at Barons Court Theatre, directed by Douglas Baker.

Hailing from Yorkshire, Matthew brings a sense of simplicity, vulnerability and depth of craft to his roles. He is a strong improviser with an exceptional physical skillset, and also plays the clarinet.

He has worked with directors including Simon McBurney, Nancy Meckler, Mike Shepherd, and Ian Forrest. Matthew has also trained extensively in movement with Frantic Assembly choreographers, clown and comedy with John Wright, and with international artists such as Marcello Magni and Miklós Bács.
